James Herriot Walking Tour
The James Herriot Walking Tour allows visitors to explore the hometown of Alf Wight OBE (pen name James Herriot), the renowned veterinary surgeon and author.
Starting at the World of James Herriot museum, the tour guides participants through key Thirsk locations that inspired the beloved All Creatures Great and Small books, films, and TV series.
Visitors will see the original veterinary surgery and significant town landmarks while gaining fresh insights into Herriot’s life and legacy.
The 2hr walking tour is every Friday (subject to availability) starting at the World of James Herriot. It costs £5 per person, or you can purchase a combined museum and walking tour ticket for £10 when booked together, saving £3.50. This makes the walking tour a perfect addition to a World of James Herriot visit.

Moorsbus starts Sun 4 May
Moorsbus is a network of bus services designed by the Moorsbus Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit body run entirely by volunteers for the social and environmental benefit of its communities, visitors and future generations.
The buses use normal bus stops in towns and villages. In the countryside they pick up and set down wherever safe. Just give the driver a clear signal.
This year Moorsbuses start on Sat 3 May, with the M5 Thirsk to Helmsley starting the day after on Sun 4 May.
